Rock Wool Blanket

Rock wool blanket, also known as mineral wool blanket or stone wool blanket, is a type of insulation material used in construction and industrial applications. It is made from natural basalt rock and recycled steel slag that are melted and spun into fine fibers. These fibers are then collected and formed into a blanket-like material.

Rock wool blankets are known for their excellent thermal insulation properties and their ability to withstand high temperatures. They are commonly used for insulating walls, roofs, floors, and HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) systems in buildings. The blankets can be installed between studs, joists, or rafters to reduce heat transfer and improve energy efficiency.

In addition to thermal insulation, rock wool blankets also provide sound insulation, fire resistance, and moisture resistance. They are non-combustible and can withstand temperatures up to 1,000°C (1,832°F), making them suitable for applications where fire safety is a concern.

Rock wool blankets are available in various thicknesses and densities to meet specific insulation requirements. They are typically easy to install, as they can be cut to fit the desired dimensions and secured in place using mechanical fasteners or adhesive.

 

It’s important to note that while rock wool blankets provide excellent insulation, they can release small dust particles during installation, so proper protective equipment such as gloves, goggles, and a dust mask should be worn. It’s also advisable to follow the manufacturer’s guidelines and safety precautions when handling and installing rock wool insulation products.
